Do you remember a past life or has déjà vu made you think twice? Virginia Tighe (d. 1995) claimed to have been Bridey (or Bridie) Murphy (d. 1864) in a past life. Mrs. Tighe was also known as Ruth Simmons. Her alleged memories from a former life can be explained by the stories Bridey’s Grandmother read to her when she was young.[1] Bridey could speak Gaelic while under hypnosis, but not while conscious. Her Grandmother was a Gaelic speaker.[2]
Sadly, the term “karma” has a
popular meaning almost equivalent to the Bible’s teaching that you reap what
you sow (Gal. 6:7,8). But it must not be
forgotten how karma is integral to the reincarnation philosophy - you’re having
another “Monday” on Thursday because you were a scumball in a past life.
Christ or Chaos. “Karmalized” Pantheism has no ultimate basis
for Right and Wrong. As Alan Watts (d.
1973) admitted,
Buddhism does not share the Western view that there is a
moral law, enjoined by God or by nature, which it is man’s duty to obey. The Buddha’s precepts of conduct – abstinence
from taking life, taking what is not given, exploitation of the passions, lying
and intoxication - are voluntarily assumed rules of expediency.[3]
Reincarnation exterminates
compassion for the downtrodden. It is
Christians who founded hospitals, help for the homeless, food and clothing
ministries, assistance programs for the disabled etc. In 1950, Mother Teresa founded the
Missionaries of Charity to serve the destitute in the slums of Calcutta. The Little Sisters of the Poor do not believe
in past lives. Are you familiar with
Dale Rogers Training Center in OKC?
They help those with
disabilities find meaningful work. I
applied to work there, but did not wind up with the position. Roy Rogers and Dale Evans were famous singers
in the cowboy tradition:

They were both committed
Christians:
FYI: Me and my Dad used to do
repair work at the local Roy Rogers Roast Beef restaurant.
If mankind has been improving
via repeated births for millions of years (or thousands), why have we not yet
reached perfection?
God created Adam, the first
man, on Day 6 (Gen. 1:26-28, 2:7,18-23).
We are all Noachians now. So,
around 2300 BC there were only eight humans on this planet (1 Peter 3:20). How does reincarnation teaching deal with
that? I argue for the young earth view
in our recent Creation Study (via Midwest Christian Outreach) in ten episodes:

Let this be written for a future generation,
that a people not
yet created may praise the Lord (Ps. 102:18)
People are created and have
souls at the moment of conception (Ps. 139:13-18). We are not reincarnated from someone else’s
body. What happens when a Christian
dies? “We are confident, I say, and
would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord” (2 Cor. 5:8). See Philippians 1:23 as well.
Christians are forgiven, but
there is an ultimate accounting, “For we must all appear before the judgment
seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things
done while in the body, whether good or bad” (2 Cor. 5:10). No endless recycling of life on Earth.
What happened to the repentant
thief on the cross? Jesus said, “Truly I
tell you, today you will be with me in paradise” (Lk. 23:43). No promise of reincarnation or karma
taxing. At the Transfiguration, Moses
was still Moses and Elijah was his own self (Mt. 17:1-5). No reincarnation to see here.
The Bible teaches Resurrection
not Reincarnation!
Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who
are in their graves will hear his voice and come out - those who have done what
is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be
condemned. (Jn. 5:28,29)
But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what
kind of body will they come?” How
foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. …
So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body
that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor,
it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is
sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. (1 Cor. 15:35,36,42-44)
Therefore, let us move beyond the elementary teachings
about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation
of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction
about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead,
and eternal judgment. (Heb. 6:1,2)
Jews, Christians and Muslims
all agree that our ultimate state is in a resurrected body.
The book of Hebrews makes our
destiny quite clear, “Just as people are destined to die once, and after
that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away
the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but
to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him” (Heb. 9:27,28).
Jesus was not the
reincarnation of someone else and neither are we. We are physically born once and we die once. Even Hindu apologist Radhakrishna admits that
Christianity and Hinduism are incompatible.[4]
Scripture teaches two ultimate
ends: Heaven and hell. We are not bound
to endless repetitions of earthly journeys filled with suffering and pain.
God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble
you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This
will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with
his powerful angels. He will punish
those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting
destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory
of his might (2 Thess. 1:6-9).
Jesus’ opinion of “karma” was
quite transparent …
As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned,
this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but
this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.” (Jn. 9:1-3)
Why is there pain, destruction
and death in the world? Because of the
Fall and the Curse (Gen. 3:16-19, Rom. 5:12-21; 8:20-23).
Gregory of Nyssa (d. 394 AD)
rejected the pre-existence of the soul and the “the fabulous doctrines of the
heathen which they hold on the subject of successive incorporation
[reincarnation].”[5]
https://believersweb.org/OUT-ON-A-LIMB/
Edgar Cayce denied the
Trinity. Ruth Montgomery rejected the
bodily resurrection of Jesus. Jess
Stearn (The Search for a Soul) dismissed the uniqueness and deity of
Christ.[6] Even Dr. Strange (you hear
that Cumberbatch?) has encountered those who have supposedly been reincarnated.

Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake:
some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise will shine like the
brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the
stars for ever and ever. (Dan. 12:2,3)
