Louis Silvie "Louie" Zamperini (1917- 2014) was
an Olympic distance runner and suffered greatly during WWII. He was tortured horribly in Japanese prison
camps and was very bitter after the war.
Zamperini had nightmares about strangling his persecutors
and this led to a serious drinking problem. His wife went to the famous Billy Graham Los
Angeles crusade and was converted.
Zamperini heard the Gospel at the Graham meeting and placed his faith in
Christ. As a Christian he forgave his
enemies and the nightmares ended!
Zamperini visited many of the guards from his POW days to
let them know that he had forgiven them. In 1950 he visited the Sugamo Prison in Tokyo
and embraced those who knew him and so expressed his forgiveness
personally. Some of the former guards
got saved‼
His latest book, Don't
Give Up, Don't Give In: Lessons from an Extraordinary Life, was published
just a few months ago.
Billy Graham’s organization has an excellent piece on
Zamperini. Here are some videos from
CBN. Here are a few more vids. Now you know the truth about UNBROKEN and The Rest of the Story (Thx Paul Harvey‼).
