Sikh and Ye Shall Find (Origins Option)

The term Sikh ("seek") is from the Sanskrit siksati - a disciple.  Of the 26 million Sikhs on this planet, more than 24 million live in India.  Adi Granth (Punjabi - First Book) also known as Granth Sahib is the sacred text of Sikhism.  The Adi Granth is the central object of worship in all gurdwaras (Sikh temples) and is honored just like a living Guru.

Ranjit Singh (d. 1839) aka Sher-e-Punjab was the first Maharaja of the Sikh Empire which ruled the Punjab region in India.  Britain took over India in 1858.  You may be astonished at how the Sikh worldview compares and contrasts with the Biblical teaching on origins.  We read this in their sacred scripture ...

No matter how much anyone tries to explain and describe them, the actions of the Creator cannot be counted. ... The names and the colors of the assorted species of beings were all inscribed by the Ever-flowing Pen of God.  ... You created the vast expanse of the Universe with One Word!  ... How can Your Creative Potency be described? I cannot even once be a sacrifice to You. Whatever pleases You is the only good done, You, Eternal and Formless One!

Sri Guru Granth Sahib (p. 4):

The Lord indeed made all the "species" (Gen. 1:11-30).  I prefer the term Essential Types of Life (ETL's).  For more info on natural kinds, please pick up my latest book Biological Essentialism:

"And God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light" (Gen. 1:3).

Only Jesus' sacrifice is sufficient to pay for our sins:

Such a high priest truly meets our need - one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.  Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. (Heb. 7:27)

The Lord is indeed formless and eternal (Jn. 4:24, Gen. 21:33).  We read further from the Sikh's holy word ...

The One Divine Mother conceived and gave birth to the three deities. One, the Creator of the World; One, the Sustainer; and One, the Destroyer [~Brahma,  Vishnu and Shiva].  He makes things happen according to the Pleasure of His Will.  ... The Primal One, the Pure Light, without beginning, without end. Throughout all the ages, He is One and the Same. ... Having created the creation, the Creator Lord watches over it. O Nanak [the founder of Sikhism], True is the Creation of the True Lord.  I bow to Him, I humbly bow.  The Primal One, the Pure Light, without beginning, without end. Throughout all the ages, He is One and the Same.  If I had 100,000 tongues, and these were then multiplied twenty times more, with each tongue, I would repeat, hundreds of thousands of times, the Name of the One, the Lord of the Universe.   Along this path to our Husband Lord, we climb the steps of the ladder, and come to merge with Him. (Adi Granth, p. 7)

Not exactly the Trinity is it?  The Bible clearly teaches that there exists only one Divine Being who lives eternally as three co-equal persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Mt. 28:19; 1 Cor. 8:6; Lk. 3:21,22; Is. 48:16,17).

God is indeed sovereign (Is. 46:10).

The Lord never changes (Mal. 3:6, Heb. 13:8, James 1:17).

Jesus prayed, "I in them and you in me - so that they may be brought to complete unity.  Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me" (Jn. 17:23).

But we will not "merge with God" (Rev. 22:1-5).

In 2021, a man was apparently beaten to death for trying to desecrate the Adi Granth (aka Guru Granth Sahib) in the Golden Temple in Amritsar which is Sikhism's most holy sanctuary.

We don't have to just wonder which holy book is the true Gift From Heaven, we can know for sure: “‘I will make known my holy name among my people Israel. I will no longer let my holy name be profaned, and the nations will know that I the Lord am the Holy One in Israel.  It is coming! It will surely take place, declares the Sovereign Lord."  (Ez. 39:7,8)

Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me.  Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him." (Jn. 7:16-18)

Consider these events surrounding the giving of the Ten Commandments:

And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off. And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die. And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not. And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was. And the Lord said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven. Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold. (Ex. 20:18-23)
